I am always inspired and uplifted when I hear stories of great human endeavour – people overcoming great odds, and refusing to accept that their goals and dreams are beyond them.
One such example is a Scottish mountaineer named Jamie Andrews.
Jamie had both his hands and feet amputated in 1999, after being trapped in terrible conditions while climbing in the French Alps, and developing severe frostbite after 5 nights above a North Face ridge on Les Droites.
Amazingly though, after several months of rehabilitation, not only did Jamie resume his climbing career, but also went on to achieve many other sporting successes, raising many thousands of pounds for charity in the process. Some of his successes include:
All this without any hands or feet!
Jamie says,
“It’s my hope that my experiences and achievements may in some way inspire others to tackle the obstacles they face in life and achieve their full potential.
"It seems to me that our greatest limitations are the ones we impose on ourselves. I want to encourage others to throw out these misconceptions and to be all they can be.
"Remember, nothing is impossible!”
Whatever your goals in life, may I wish you good luck, and encourage you to stay focused!
