“I never have enough time…”
“I don’t have time to do all this…”
“If only I had a bit more time…”
We often talk and think about time as though it was an expendable commodity, like money for example, but the simple fact is that all of us have all the time there is.
24 hours a day - no more and no less. It can’t be saved and used later, and you can’t borrow more from tomorrow to use today.
Time passes inexorably by, and whatever we choose to do with each passing minute, it disappears just the same, never to return. So why is it then that we all treat time as though it were an elastic property, which expands or contracts occasionally, depending upon what we are doing.
To answer this we have to consider the value we place on our time – an hour stuck in a traffic jam can seem like an entire day, as it is seen as wasted time – time when we would rather be doing something else. On the other hand, an hour spent dining with a loved one can seem to pass in a moment, because we are so engrossed and engaged during that hour.
