Would You be Wealthy?

Would You be Wealthy?

“You aren't wealthy until you have something money can't buy.” - Garth Brooks

There is much in the news at the moment about the global credit crunch, and the impact it is having on ordinary families, businesses and individuals.

However, it’s good practice in these times to remind ourselves about the true relationship between money and wealth. It is easy to think they are the same thing.

But true wealth is a more a state of mind or an attitude. You either are wealthy or you are not - no one can change that, except you. So being wealthy, in reality has nothing to do with how many possessions you have, or how much you own, but is more a case of how you look at the world, and how you value the things in life which cannot necessarily be measured or counted.

If you doubt this, just think of how many famous people have built vast fortunes, only to go on and destroy their lives through drink, drugs, gambling and so on. Yes they had amassed great fortunes in terms of the money they had, but were they truly wealthy?

The same is true of many lottery winners – just because they suddenly acquire a vast fortune, it doesn’t mean they suddenly lose their poverty mentality and immediately replace it with one of wealth. People with a poverty mentality will quickly find a way to get rid of their new found wealth, either literally, or by letting it destroy them.
